In this month’s issue we celebrate the 150th birthday anniversary of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and his contribution to the architecture of Scotland, and in particular Kilmacolm. An article on p24 from the Kilmacolm Heritage Company pays tribute to this great man and his vision. So it was heartbreaking to see the Mackintosh Building, loving called “The Mack” by so many, in flames. Especially after the fire only four years ago, and the success of the rebuilding work which was so close to completion. There is hope that the building may be salvaged, but at this stage it is too early to say for sure. It will certainly be a huge loss for Glasgow if it cannot be rebuilt.
