The Sourcery Lifestyle Store has just celebrated its 1st birthday this November. It\u2019s been an amazing year for this concept boutique. Located in the tranquil conservation area of Quarrier\u2019s Village just outside Glasgow, it was the perfect setting, ethos and feel for what the founder was trying to achieve.<\/p>\n

The Sourcery store was borne from a novel idea to bring beautiful and exclusive stock, which is not readily available in Scotland, close to home. Founded by Gillian Gilchrist, ex corporate Flight Attendant, whose former career took her to all corners of the globe, from well-known cities to more obscure locations.<\/p>\n

\u201cVisiting unique and stylish independent stores all over the world inspired me to open a lifestyle store with a unique concept close to home. A city which has inspired me greatly is Savannah Georgia in the USA. With its famously beautiful, Spanish moss-draped, tree-lined streets, Savannah is a treasure trove of old fashioned stores selling contemporary and modern wares. Everything from exquisite hand made leather goods to modern art. The Sourcery\u2019s apothecary was an idea taken from a wonderful old fashioned French style perfume store on Broughton Street.
\nWhilst on my travels, I would spend my time visiting local crafts people and markets. One of the most interesting trips I took found me in Blagoveshchensk in Mongolia, a small town on the Russian and Chinese border. Here, I was able to source beautiful handmade wares at the local market. After lugging a suitcase on my 7000 mile trip back home full of hand made hats and beautiful jewellery, they were snapped up very quickly by friends and family.<\/p>\n

“The Sourcery\u2019s name is a play on words of course, but was chosen for its mystical connotations as well. With my background as a holistic therapist it is essential that my stock is carefully chosen and produced using ethical means and materials which are kind to the planet and to us. The store\u2019s latest range includes our gorgeous organic cotton bags made by a Danish Company.
\nMy favourite brand sourced so far is the American yoga legging brand FitFit which I discovered in Austin,Texas. They are made and designed by a truly amazing businesswomen and yoga teacher. These leggings are the best sellers by far in the store, and are loved by my customers as much as they are loved by our little team of Sourcery staff.
\nThe clothing department in the store has grown the fastest, initially starting with just one anchor brand by Danish designer Tif Tiffy. We found the demand for stylish and contemporary clothing was bigger than we first thought, and have in the past year introduced at least two additional brands per season. Sourcery customers love to have something stylish and edgy, so we only stock a few pieces of each item, whether it be clothing or accessories, to allow exclusivity.\u201d<\/p>\n
