My attitude to Christmas cooking is this: don’t go OTT on making fancy food. Good shopping is the key. This means minimum cooking and more time with fizz in hand chatting to your guests (unless, of course, you want to escape from your guests in which case get busy with your soufflés!)

A Day Out to… Strathblane
Nestled at the foot of the Campsie Fells, Strathblane is one of Stirlingshire’s prettiest villages. Although only 25 minutes from Glasgow by car, it feels very rural. The views are wonderful and there is plenty of great outdoorsy stuff to do with friends and family. A perfect day-trip or weekend destination.
